PUPS-Vedasenthur - தமிழ்நாடு (Tamil Nadu)

About Us
PUPS (Panchayat Union Primary Schools) are government-run schools in rural Tamil Nadu, managed by the local panchayats under the Department of School Education. These schools provide free primary education (Classes 1 to 5) to children, mainly in villages and small towns, ensuring access to quality education for economically disadvantaged students.
One of the key features of PUPS is that they offer free and compulsory education under the Right to Education (RTE) Act for students in grades 1 to 5. The government provides free textbooks, notebooks, uniforms, school bags, and even footwear to students. In addition to these benefits, the Midday Meal Scheme plays a crucial role in encouraging attendance by offering nutritious meals, including eggs and bananas, to improve children's health and concentration.
The medium of instruction in most PUPS is Tamil, although English is introduced as a subject from early classes. Teachers are appointed through the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) and receive periodic training to improve teaching methods. Many schools have also adopted activity-based learning (ABL) and digital teaching techniques to make learning more engaging for students. Some schools are being upgraded with smart classrooms and e-learning resources to enhance the quality of education.
